Luciano Spalletti, former manager of AS Roma and Inter Milan, has urged Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa to return to Italy amidst speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.
Chiesa, who has been one of Fiorentina’s stand-out performers this season, has been linked with a move to several top clubs in England, including Manchester United and Chelsea. However, Spalletti believes that the young Italian international would be better off staying in Serie A.
In an interview with Italian media, Spalletti said, “Chiesa is a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. It would be a shame to see him leave Serie A at such a young age. I believe he still has a lot to learn and develop as a player, and the best place for him to do that is in Italy.”
Spalletti’s comments come at a time when Italian football is experiencing a resurgence, with clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli all performing well in European competitions. The former Roma boss believes that Chiesa would benefit from playing in a competitive league like Serie A, where he would be able to test himself against some of the best players in the world.
Chiesa, who is the son of former Italy international Enrico Chiesa, has already established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Italian football. With his pace, skill, and eye for goal, he has the potential to become a top player in the near future.
It remains to be seen whether Chiesa will heed Spalletti’s advice and stay in Italy, or whether he will be tempted by the lure of a move to the Premier League. Whatever decision he makes, one thing is for certain – he has a bright future ahead of him and will be a player to watch in the years to come.
